Local café / restaurant in major double scoop on the same day

A small independent cafe located in Banbury has been recommended and listed in the world famous guide of chefs’ favourite restaurants, Where Chefs Eat.

One of only 3 establishments in Oxfordshire to have made it into the worldwide publication, Little Amsterdam stands alongside Michelin starred restaurants "Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons" and the "Nut Tree Inn".

The popular café also won a national silver award for the "Feed With Confidence Awards", awarded for supporting breastfeeding mums.

The café was included in the Where Chefs Eat guide based on the recommendation of Robert Ortiz, a Michelin starred chef of Lima in London. Lima, the first Peruvian restaurant in Europe to be recognised by the Guide has won many accolades including Best New Restaurant in the Time Out Eating & Drinking Awards.

The “feed With Confidence Awards” celebrates establishments with a positive attitude towards breastfeeding. Little Amsterdam encourages mums who are able to, to feel comfortable when breastfeeding. They give mums that are feeding a free herbal tea to rehydrate.

Little Amsterdam opened its doors in December 2014 and within 9 months won "Cafe of the Year" by being nominated by local readers of the Banbury Guardian, and for three years running has won the national "Good Food Award" and was a finalist at last year’s UK "Food Awards", and winning Silver at the national "FreeFrom Food Awards" for providing and catering for people with allergies.

Ilja Abbattista, founder of Little Amsterdam, also has a cookery school situated inside the cafe and “has an incredible team alongside her”, including husband Lino who runs the kitchen. Dutch food is on the menu and the café is best known for their sweet and savoury pancakes, and also serve some of the typical Dutch snacks that you would find in The Netherlands.

"I can't quite believe that I saw Little Amsterdam in the book, I have been on cloud nine all day, I'm ecstatic to say the least, it feels wonderful that we have celebrity chefs coming to dine here and recommend us, we also have other celebrities dining here!" - Ilja

"It makes all the hard work and long hours worth-while!" - Lino.

Little Amsterdam is a 60-cover cafe restaurant, established in December 2014. Based on North Bar Street in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Contact www.littleamsterdam.co or 01295 279140 for reservations.
